JointMethod

JOINTMETHOD,
is a band solidly poised to bring their music and creative fervor to a more expansive audience in 2009. The band was co-founded by vocalist Jose Suaste and percussionist Emilio Muniz. In regards to the meaning behind the group’s name José explains, “We feel the music is more inviting and we want people to enjoy and get in on a different point of view. I see myself writing with substance that doesn’t stem from aggression and the band as a productive group with positive energy that leads to positive results and progress.”

That progress was most clearly realized qualitatively when they were able to secure a gig at the Telemagica Festival last summer. The eager response JM received and the high profile of that communal, eclectic, culturally and sonically engaging event took the band into a different phase. The group seized upon that momentum, then shortly thereafter embarked on a successful mini tour within Texas and a larger West Coast tour. A whole new pantheon of music fans searching for music void of formulaic pop or trendy cliché’s caught energetic and brazen live performances in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Jointmethod, released an EP, 503 Panhandle in 2003 and a full album Roots and Wings in the middle of last year. Notably without significant label, industry, extensive radio play, promotion and traditional media visibility, the latter sold half the pressed copies in a month solely through the Internet. Therefore broadening their core Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex fan base was a key step forward into a new and exciting phase. JM as it’s currently constituted began with the addition of bassist Ruben Salazar, drummer Joseph Braley and guitarist David “Stitch” Rapaport. Their sound can be described as desert urban funk rock as explained by Emilio, but to categorize JointMethod within any narrow genre is limiting and doesn’t quite apply.

During live shows is where the connection or synergy between band and audience are forged. The sound has a foundation of hip hop funk with José’s thoughtful non dogmatic lyrics, irresistible low- end bass warmth, steady kinetic drumming and smoldering guitar riffs accentuated by percussion. JM has music and lyrical content that will make you think but also have fans dancing, singing and enjoying an entertaining live experience.

JointMethod’s music ranges from ambient rhythmic hip hop to hard rock staccato guitar riffs complimented by infusing chants and melodic grinding grooves and and most everything in between.

JointMethod embraces diversity is an understatement. The band is a collective of artists with different cultural and ethic backgrounds which is embraced as a strength and entails a quality of distinct difference from a typical rock, rap or pop band. All the influences and experiences of each mesh together whether they were born in Texas or Israel, the country of Stitch’s birth. “We want to put forth messages on an emotional and personal level with an understanding of global vibration,” says Stitch. In addition, “Stitch” has veteran experience from being in bands that were at one time based in Los Angeles and New York and the wider world perspective of his travels in India and the Far East. Joseph echoes many of the ideas and sentiments of the other band members with his own earnest desire to create music people can “feel”.

“We are constantly seeking bigger and better things with our music, which include touring a lot more and finding ways for our music to reach from coast to coast,” says Emilio.

“Becoming a more cohesive group with the freedom to develop business aspects and the ability to evolve conceptually and carve out our own niche is what successful bands do,” says José. JointMethod is a self contained unit where management, promotion, venue arrangements, graphic design, merchandise and all aspects involved with their music and image are handled within by the founding members. It was this need that prompted members of JM to form their own production company. “We’re breaking out of the same old show structure in town and creating a real music loving experience,” says Jose. Thus, Dropout Dreams Productions was born, specializing in management, booking, and PR and eventually a label. The company is the culmination of years of experience, love, and ultimately frustration in the music business. Even though they’ve created their own music entity, they are looking to sign with an independent or major label and bigger management and booking that can truly grasp the measure of their concept and goals.

JointMethod is a band full of possibilities, hard workers, determination, and a pragmatic awareness of the shifts and constant change of the music industry and all that entails. They realize the future is bright, but urge listeners to Join the Method and enjoy the ride.

Bio by Brian Carr

Zé is a Dallas, TX native with deep family
roots in Mexico. His parents migrated from
Monterrey, NL in the early 70's and he and his
sister grew up in the the tough inner city suburb
of Dallas known as Pleasant Grove or "Peasant
Grove" as some affectionately call it. He started
rapping at age 13 in local battles at school,
rec centers, and parties and formed his own
rap group, "Latin Unity" at age 16.

When he entered college at The University of
North Texas, he met Milo. They shared similar
tastes in music and soon after started doing
house parties with live music, which eventually
lead to JointMethod.

Milo grew up just outside of Ft. Worth, TX in
a small community called Rendon. The small
town atmosphere lead to a love of the outdoors
and for some reason hard rock music and hip
hop. The youths in that area really dedicated
themselves to music and with the help of friends
Milo started jammin on percussion, drums, and
even vocals at an early age. By the time he was
in high school, he'd already been performing at
parties with friends for several years.

Upon entering college at The University of
North Texas, he met Zé. They eventually
rented a house together and hosted many
legendary parties with live music. Those parties
gave birth to JointMethod.

Joseph is a Dallas kid. Although he's the
youngest of the group, his bohemian upbringing
helped create the seasoned drummer he is today.
He was exposed to several genres of music at
an early age. These influences have molded him
into a lover of all music and a musician with
range and extreme knowledge.

In late 2006, he dropped out of college at The
University of North Texas to be a full time
musician. He's been a part of Jointmethod since
then and has been on both national tours with
the band. His goals are simple: Take over the
world, and play music till I die.

Stitch is an Israeli national. In the late nineties
at a very young age, he was part of one of the
biggest rock acts in Israel "The Jiggles." When
that dream fell apart due to infighting and lack of
direction, he migrated to NY with his best friend
and drummer and started doing shows as
"The Mother's Anger." That project was soon
heard by legendary bigwig rocker, Mike Davis of
MC5. He promptly signed the band to Dionysus
records and recorded their first record. They
then toured the country for the next 3 years,
along the way meeting Jack Endino of Nirvana
and Soundgarden fame and he recorded their
second record.

That band has since continued to play and since
then Stitch has relocated to Texas where he met
Zé and Milo just as they were searching for a
new guitarist for Jointmethod. The rest is history.
They've toured and played together for the last
two years and are currently writting JM's second
full length record due out in early 09.

Ruben grew up outside of Ft. Worth, TX and
has had several musical influences ranging from
T Rex to Miles Davis. Part of a very musical
family he enrolled at The University of North
Texas to persue music, where he met the
members of his first band called Liquid Bounce.
That band became a UNT staple mixing
Hip Hop, Funk and Jazz to create unique and
innovative tunes. It was with that  band when
he met the guys from Jointmethod.

They performed several times together and
when the moment came that Liquid Bounce
and Jointmethod were ready for some personel
changes, Ruben jumped over to JM. He has
already toured with them and is a big contributor
to their new album due out in early 09.
